The Maruti Suzuki Eeco is the successor to the Versa in the Indian market. Therefore, much like the Versa, the prime focus of the Eeco is to deliver a small group of people without burning a hole in the pocket.
Sure, the Eeco isn’t the most beautiful MPV to look at, but factor in the price and you’ll know why Maruti Suzuki has kept the styling as bare-bones as they could. The front-end houses a three-slat grille flanked by rectangular headlamps. The bumpers are black, the wheels are 13-inches in size, and the side mirrors are the most affordable ones you’ll ever find in a car. To spruce things up a bit, Maruti Suzuki has added stickers on the sides, making it look less bulky in profile. The overall stance is boxy, so as to accommodate as much vertical room as possible. Overall, by the looks of it, this isn’t a car I would take into corners.
To give that airy feeling to the cabin, Maruti Suzuki Eeco has also used large mirrors for the windows. While the front and middle windows are manually operated, the third one is fixed. Specifications
As said above, the Maruti Suzuki Eeco is all about providing the bare-bones space without focussing much on the overall styling. Dimensionally, the Eeco is 3,675mm in length, 1,475mm in width, and 1,800mm in height. The wheelbase is 2,350mm, and the ground clearance is 160mm. The kerb weight is a decent 928kg.
To manage all the space, Maruti Suzuki has positioned the engine under the front seats. Therefore, under the front seats of the Eeco is a 1196cc four-cylinder engine which is capable of churning out 73bhp and 101Nm of torque. Another surprise is the use of a rear-wheel-drive layout. The engine is adequately powered to perform well in the city. Although, on a full load, the performance is just too lethargic.
Mileage
Being a Maruti Suzuki, the Eeco is expected to deliver a good mileage figure. However, the ARAI-figure for the petrol-manual Eeco is 15.1km/l. The fuel tank capacity is 40-litre.
Features
It would be hard to call the Maruti Suzuki Eeco a decently-equipped vehicle. To keep the costs in check, there are almost no features in the Maruti Suzuki Eeco. The cabin, in itself, is a utilitarian place carved for maximum space for the passengers. The dashboard is vertically placed, and just too small leaving the wires exposed.

The Eeco, as of early-2020, comes in six shades, namely, Solid White, Pearl Midnight Black, Metallic Silky Silver, Metallic Passion Red, Metallic Breeze Blue, and Metallic Glistening Grey. Of the lot, the Metallic Silky Silver remains to be the most popular choice among buyers.

As of early-2020, the Maruti Suzuki Eeco is available in four variants: Three for the Petrol-manual and one for the Petrol-CNG-manual. As for the former, the price for the base-spec 5 STR variant is Rs. 3.83 lakh, the price for the 7 STR variant is Rs. 4.11 lakh, and the price for the 5 STR with AC + HTR variant is Rs. 4.23 lakh.
